Its come to our attention that PAX and Dragon*Con are both Labor Day weekend this year. I'm surprised that Penny Arcade scheduled it like that, Dragon*Con is ALWAYS that weekend. Oh well.
Personally, I'm going to Dragon*Con in Atlanta; not only is it within driving distance of me, its a more general purpose event. As much as I love gaming, I'd rather go to somethng more diverse. Kinda sad though, because more people I know are going to PAX.
How about you guys? Planning on attending one or the other? Like Ariock's doing in his post with PAX, those of us going the other direction should probably start planning the Atlanta trip now.
Well, I know a few people from this side of the country who are going to PAX, so I think it might hurt attendance of both. It effects guests too, Wil Wheaton normally shows up at both, but he can only do PAX this year.
Before the dates were announced, I figured I'd go to DragonCon, and then PAX if there were funds available. DragonCon is so close, and they are friends I only get to see that once a year.
In the several years that PAX has been around, this is the first year that Labor Day has been on September 1st, so this is the first collision. Blame the calendar, rather than either event for stepping on the other one's toes.
Well, since my jobless butt is not getting out to Washington, and I live in Atlanta (and might still at that point), the smart money's on DCON. On the other hand, I always manage to find myself out of town of otherwise committed DCON weekend. I'd kinda prefer if it were not on a holiday weekend.
