Hey everyone, thanks for the condolences on twitter and gmail.

For those of you without twitter (?), my grandfather, Harrison "Dutch" Steninger passed away at the ripe old age of 97 this morning. I'm not really "sad" exactly... I mean, he was NINETY SEVEN, just kinda melancholy, ya know? The family was really hoping he'd hang in there till the big one-oh-oh; ah well, such is life.

Funeral's either Saturday or Friday, I'll be flying up to Pennsylvania the night before.

That is sad - but yeah, NINTY SEVEN... my only deceased grandparent was 90, and my great aunt just turned 103 last week. At this point, she is really ready to go (she was ready two years ago), so it's just waiting.

Personally, I never want to be that old. But at least you all are having a memorial service. My grandfather expressly forbid one in his will. He figured everyone who needed to know would know within 24 hours (all eight of us, including family friends), so what was the point?
It still would have been nice.

Hi hon-I am sorry about your grandfather; but to echo everyone else's thoughts: 97 is impressive. You can't ask for a longer life span.
If you're in town Thursday night or Friday night, I can probably hang out. Call me.

Sorry to hear of his passing. Sounds like he had a long run, and at that age, it's not entirely a surprise. Glad you've got some strong genes backing you.

It looks like he lived a very healthy life to make it to 97. All that matters are the memories you keep with you. Sorry to hear that this is the reason you have to come back to PA. Take care....
