An open letter to Rachel Ray:

Dear Rachel,
I think its great that you've introduced Cooking Geeks to the world of acronyms, something that us Sci-Fi and Computer Geeks have been using for years (seriously, just ask any Star Trek fan if they prefer TNG, TOS, or DS9). Welcome to the club.
Here's the thing though Rachel (can I call you Rachel?), the purpose of an acronym is to make things SHORTER to say, its very usefull when its pretty well established like your now famous "EVOO". But it really really defeats the purpose when you immediately expand the acronym after you say it! Maybe once per episode, at the beginning, to get new viewers up to speed, but by saying "E. V. O. O., extra virgin olive oil" each time, you've just added FOUR SYLABLES to the phrase! This is NOT how one uses an acronym. This is acronym abuse, acronymbuse if you will (though, we at PFTPUOAIPADL are not experts on portmanteaus, we differ that to those more knowlegable).
Sincerely,
PFTPUOAIPADL*
